Chai Time / Raya Haji Mini Celebration

On October 14th, the Malaysian Student Association managed to have two events happening at the same time. They are Chai Time as well as a feast for Eid-ul Adha (Hari Raya Haji)

Chai Time is a weekly Asian American Cultural Center (AACC) evening program co-sponsored with a different student organization each week that starts at 6:00pm and ends at 8:00pm. Snacks and chai are provided by the AACC and students are invited to come hang out and relax with friends.

At 6:15 pm, the Muslim students performed their Maghrib prayers followed by a short round of Takbir Raya led by Usamah as it was the Day of Arafah (the day before ‘Eid ul-Adha/Raya Haji). As many of the Muslim students were fasting on that day, we decided to make the event potluck, so that those who were fasting could break their fast and for others to enjoy a good dinner. There were mee goreng, egg sandwich, pudding, Abang Fauzi’s all-time-favorite Teh Tarik and many more!

The rest of the evening went by pretty fast, some gathered to play Jenga, many just gathered around and talked and just did some catching up. The room was filled with laughter and some occasional shrieks from the Jenga players. Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head back home. As people would always say, “Time flies when you’re having fun!”

At the end of the day, what's better than good food is having them with good company. It's a combination that never disappoints. Evening definitely well spent!
